I came across this posted in a blog over at MyPara.

I decided to play with it on here in part to show how often, whether we are believers or skeptics, the questions we try to answer are as just as flawed as any beliefs we may be carrying with us. The other part was that I just love taking silly tests like this.

Keep in mind that any "test" you come across like this is really no different than the ones that circulate on the various social networks and blogs. I don't believe that any of those ever proved how great of a friend I could be, how sucessful I was destined to become, nor how great of a lover I was. They were always fun to fill out and share though.

Just click on the question to see my answers.

Have you ever known the phone was going to ring before it rang?

Assuming that this was not meant to say "Have you ever been expecting a phone call?" I am going to say NO. And it probably wouldn't have mattered anyway because I screen.

Have you ever felt a sudden chill in a room, when there was no apparent reason?

YES...but the key phrase here is "no apparent reason". Just because the cause is not apparent does not make it paranormal. Convection is a bitch.

Have you ever seen anything that could not be explained by science and logic?

NO. I have seen several things that I COULD NOT EXPLAIN by science or logic. But if I were to properly collect enough data and record the event then science and logic might well be able to explain it. I am not saying that science has the answers at this time, but if my only goal is to talk to ghosts then I can start leaving an awful lot of electronics at home .

Have you ever felt you were being watched when you were alone?

NO...not that I remember...but once again the question is improperly worded. I have been on investigations where I was the only "person" in an area, but felt that I was being watched. But in reality if I was being watched then I was not in fact alone, was I? Conversely, if I was in fact alone and felt that I was being watched, then I was just plain wrong.

Have you ever had a vision or a dream that came true?

Yes...sort of. While I have never had any real precognition that I can remember, I have on a few occasions had dreams that featured buidlings or homes that I had never seen nor entered. Later, as I happened upon these locations or discussed the locale with someone I found that my dreams where freakishly accurate. Oh, and once I had a really bad feeling and came home early, and later that evening my best friend wrecked his car. He was okay.

Have you ever had a successful session with a Ouija Board?

NO. I played with them a little as a kid, but never took them seriously. Now that I am an adult I take them seriously and won't play with them.

Do you have an open mind about the supernatural?

YES. Not much to say about that one, except that I have had an open mind all of my life and to my knowledge never encountered anything paranormal until I went looking for it.

Would you refuse to spend the night in a "haunted” house?

NO. I spend nights in haunted houses all the time now. But if the question was meant to ask if I would sleep over in a haunted house, the answer is still yes as long as it is not some abandoned heap with mice, snakes, and bats. I spent the night in a non-haunted "hunting cabin" last year and saw a mouse run across my feet in bed. I do not plan on going back.

Do you meditate?

YES, I try. But what actually defines meditation? I have a terrible time clearing my mind to the point that I can call it meditating. Despite recent advice, I just can't seem to nail it down. On the other hand, if someone prays aren't they meditating?

Have you retained the childlike ability, simply to "accept” new experiences without distorting preconceptions?

NO, but I am not sure that I had that ability as a child either. I am pretty sure that a lot of new experiences (i.e. girls) terrified the piss out of me back then. And who says a preconception is necessarily distorting?

Are you more likely to make decisions using your "gut feeling” than your "thinking logic?”

MAYBE. It really depends on the decision. If you ask me what I want for dinner then I am likely to go with the first thing that comes to my mind. If you ask me if you can borrow money, then I will probably be a little more thoughtful (before saying "no").

Have you ever been told that psychic ability runs in your family?

NO. Not at all. Period.

I won't even bother to go into the scoring. If it really interests you, you can find the original post over at MyPara. But, assuming that whoever wrote this thought they were onto something in the first place, you will NOT find your psychic aptitude by taking a short quiz on the net. As Carolyn observed, "Obvious cognitive bias."
