Keep Your Friends Close? PDF Print E-mail

A friend of mine recently posted some things on Facebook that offended me. The postings were of a political and religious nature, and while they were not directed at me, I found them to be rather insulting.

I delayed posting this so that I could be a little more objective and separate any “hurt feelings” from any lesson that could be learned.

Personally I could not care less what his (or really most anyone’s) political or religious leanings are. My offense was that he obviously did not recognize that by going beyond talking about his views and actually insulting the beliefs of others, he was insulting the friends he relies on and doing the very thing that he has indicated in the past that he despises.

My real surprise was that this is a person who has backed me up countless times in discussions about the interpretation of the paranormal. While we don’t always agree, his willingness to debate and express viewpoints that were well thought out impressed me from the first time we clashed in an online forum.

The "Can You See Ghosts?" Test PDF Print E-mail

I came across this posted in a blog over at MyPara.

I decided to play with it on here in part to show how often, whether we are believers or skeptics, the questions we try to answer are as just as flawed as any beliefs we may be carrying with us. The other part was that I just love taking silly tests like this.

Keep in mind that any "test" you come across like this is really no different than the ones that circulate on the various social networks and blogs. I don't believe that any of those ever proved how great of a friend I could be, how sucessful I was destined to become, nor how great of a lover I was. They were always fun to fill out and share though.

Light In The Entrance Hallway PDF Print E-mail
Written by Wes Forsythe

This one is interesting...but because it has certain characteristics I will call it an errant flash of light.

It was captured by our DVR system at the Rohs Opera House in Cynthiana on November 12, 2011 during an investigation with the Georgetown Paranormal Society. The camera is pointed towards the same corner as where we caught our Child Entity At The Rohs clip, but from the opposite direction. We are starting to call this hallway the "Vortex". This is the second hard-to-explain-clip from the area that we have caught in exactly two times covering it. Our EMF detectors almost always display unexplainable spikes here. And to be flat-out-honest, every single psychic and sensitive that I have had walk through there claims they get dizzy. Take it for what it is worth.

Pardon the time stamp. I have a witness that I reset the DVR, but somehow 11/22/2011 became 10/15/2022. The actual time was a little after midnight.

The hallway is enclosed at the end away from the camera by a "black out curtain". Immediately behind the camera, the doors were also closed. These doors do have small windows, but we have recorded nor noted no obvious instances of light from the street beyond coming in them.

Did I Miss Something? PDF Print E-mail

While reading a post at one of the paranormal community sites that I frequent, something came to mind.

There is a lot of discussion about how the only valid investigation is a purely science based investigation. That idea is expanded to mean that a GOOD paranormal researcher will approach all of their investigations with no preconceived ideas of the outcome. Their reasoning is that this is how true science is done.

Is it? Is it really?

Let’s go back and look at the invention of the light bulb. Did Edison really test thousands different types of materials and designs with no expectation that any of them would work?

Downloading Video From Your Bunker Hill DVR PDF Print E-mail
Written by Wes Forsythe

A very popular DVR with the paranormal hobbiest is the Bunker Hill Security 68332 system (Harbor Freight). It is relatively inexpensive, widely sold, and is pretty much ready to go out of the box.

BUT...The company made a bit of a mistake recently. They "upgraded" the operating system without upgrading the software and instruction booklet that come with the unit. This means that while recording video on the system is super-idiot-easy (except for fixing the time stamp apparently - I messed that up twice), downloading the video from the unit to your computer takes a bit of research at the very least. A little knowledge of browser settings and how networks function doesn't hurt.

I have come to your rescue.

These instructions, if followed closely, should allow you to download your video files from the DVR unit to your computer's hard drive.
