Unknown Noises from the Rohs
|
|
These are some sound files that we would classify as
unexplained sounds and possible "class 3" EVPs. Some
may be voices. They may not. Some may be easily explained
background noises. Others aren't. We
have included them in our documentation but are hesitant to
call them evidence. You will probably need headphones to hear
most of them at all.

This is a sound caught on a stationary Olympus digital voice recorder on June
26th, 2010 in
the main upstairs hallway. It sounds like one of the upstairs door opening
slightly, but we were not in the area at that time.

This is a sound caught on a Sony digital voice recorder on May 8th, 2010 in
the main auditorium. It seems to be really soft melodic humming. The origin is
questionable. It could be ambient noise from outside the theater.

This is a sound caught on a stationary GE micro cassette recorder on May 8th, 2010 in
the upstairs hallway. We have caught this sound several times since and are trying to find
out what it is. It may have to do with the ice machine in the adjacent room
(although we have never heard it when we have been in the area) or it could even
be a bat upstairs I suppose.
Here is a copy we caught on June 26th on a stationary Olympus digital
voice recorder and the GE micro cassette recorder, but still never heard it
ourselves.

We are treating this as an interesting malfunction with our GE micro cassette recorder. It
was captured on our May 8th investigation in the upstairs hallway.
The first 4 1/2 minutes of the second
tape from the recorder has a
speed anomaly of approximately plus 20% (or more in places).
The raw file is the last
minute and a half to demonstrate what happened. The other file is played
back at minus 20% speed which seems about right for playback although it
momentarily jumps up another 5-10% or so even in this excerpt.
At the end
of the adjusted file you can hear what sounds like a sigh (the
accompanying beep was from one of our cameras) as if whatever
was causing the anomaly was doing it on purpose and finally had to quit.
After the apparent sigh is heard the tape returns to normal speed with no
other problems.
Normally, low batteries or a bad tape will cause a drag
effect which would not have been all that surprising. Probably just
mechanical, but as it is I know of no malfunction that could have caused
it and then corrected itself. The recorder has no history of such a
malfunction.

This is a sound caught on a Sony digital voice recorder on April 10th, 2010 in
the main auditorium. It is interesting
mostly because it does not match what I would call the ambient room noise.
|
This is a faint voice caught on a Sony digital voice recorder on April 10th, 2010 in
the main auditorium. It seemed to come in response to the
question, "Which do you like better: the movies or the
music". We cannot make out what is says and it is
possible that the recorder picked up one of the other
investigators from a distance.

This seems to be a very soft whisper. It was caught on a Sony digital voice recorder on April 10th, 2010 in
the main auditorium. It may be nothing.
